Computer

When it comes to the greatest invention in the last century, it must be computers. Nowadays, computers and our daily lives are almost inseparable. People can watch news and weather report on the internet as well as book seats and restaurants. Instead of taking heavy briefcases, many people visit their customers with their notebook and PDA which contains whole the database and every kinds of relative books. Furthermore, scientists use the most advanced computers to stimulate and compute all kinds of situations. The magical computer has solved so many problems.

There are still some benefits computers have brought to us. For example, it has been much more convenient since the computer was invented. Today, we could communicate with our families and friends by email as well as by MSN. These two ways are much more economical and saving much more time. We can even use video telephone to talk to each other “face-to-face”. Another benefit is that computers have also brought entertainment as well as its convenience. We can watch movies, listen to pop music, go shopping, or enjoy a concert or drama on our own computer, not to mention the excited video games. The computer fulfills our lives in many aspects.

However, these advantages may just enough to be its drawback. The computer is too convenient that many people is so concentrated on the virtual world and forget the true world is important as well. People who just sit in front of the computer all day long can’t really communicate with the people around him. And for the sake of lacking for exercise, those people will also become obese and unhealthy easily. The computer nerd will be a total social misfit and a typical computer potato.
The myth that whether the computer benefits people or makes the world worse is still controversial. In my opinion, however, it benefits or not is totally up to the way we use the powerful invention. If we apply computers and relative technique to good way, surely it would benefit us.
